Sonar accesses the camera, magnetometer, and basic information from the connected Wi-Fi network only while you are using each scanner. This data is processed entirely on your device and is not sent to any server—because Sonar does not have a server.
The inspection history (room names, findings, checklist, and time of each visit) is saved to the operating system's local storage on your device. If you uninstall the app or clear the history via the Settings screen, this data will be permanently removed.
Sonar does not require registration, email, or password. There is no user account or synchronization between devices.
Camera: Used for lens scanning (checking for reflections). Local network: Used for network scanning (IP camera ports) and to display information about your own connection. Bluetooth: Used to search for nearby BLE devices. Location (Android only): Required by the system to list nearby third-party Wi-Fi networks — we don't use this to track your location. We never request microphone access.
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to measure, in aggregate, how screens and features are used (for example, how many inspections are completed). These events do not include photos, room names or the findings of your inspections. In the free Android version, the app shows Google AdMob ads: banners and a video that unlocks the full result of an inspection. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier and technical data to serve and measure ads, under Google's privacy policy. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent first, and you can review it in Settings. Sonar Pro subscribers and iPhone users do not see ads.
In-app purchases are processed directly by the App Store or Google Play. The store only tells the app whether your subscription is active. Sonar never receives or stores your card details.
Your inspection data never leaves your device: clearing the history or uninstalling the app removes everything at once. For ads, you can review your consent in the app's Settings or reset your advertising identifier in your system settings.
Sonar is developed by Garra Labs. Questions about privacy can be sent to [email protected] or through the app's Help screen.
