Sonar accesses the camera, magnetometer, and basic information from the connected Wi-Fi network only while you are using each scanner. This data is processed entirely on your device and is not sent to any server—because Sonar does not have a server.
The inspection history (room names, findings, checklist, and time of each visit) is saved to the operating system's local storage on your device. If you uninstall the app or clear the history via the Settings screen, this data will be permanently removed.
Sonar does not require registration, email, or password. There is no user account or synchronization between devices.
Camera: Used for lens scanning (checking for reflections). Local network: Used for network scanning (IP camera ports) and to display information about your own connection. Bluetooth: Used to search for nearby BLE devices. Location (Android only): Required by the system to list nearby third-party Wi-Fi networks — we don't use this to track your location. We never request microphone access.
This version of the app does not display ads or use third-party tracking SDKs. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect.
When available, in-app purchases are processed directly by the App Store or Google Play. Sonar does not receive or store your payment card information.
Since no data is ever left the device, you have complete control: clearing your history or uninstalling the app removes all your data at once.
Sonar is developed by Garra Labs. Questions about privacy can be sent to [email protected] or through the app's Help screen.
